White nurse charges African COVID-19 patients murdered in New York hospitals

May 22, 2020

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City, a white nurse released a video charging that African people were being “murdered” by hospital workers.

According to an April 30 article in the UK Daily Mail, a white nurse on the frontlines of the medical crisis, working at a hospital in an African community in New York City, exposed that African COVID-19 patients were being killed by the medical staff.

The nurse persuaded a friend, nurse practitioner Sara, to make the video to get the word out on YouTube.

The video has since been taken down “for violating YouTube's Community Guidelines” and the comments disabled.

Sara said, among other murderous mistreatments, COVID-19 patients are placed on ventilators rather than less invasive CPAP or BiPAP machines, which are used for patients with sleep apnea and other illnesses.

She explained, “The ventilators have high pressure, which then causes barotrauma—trauma to the lungs.”

“It's a horror movie,” Sara quoted her friend as saying. “Not because of the disease, but the way it is being handled.”

Sara said her friend has never seen so much neglect. “No one cares. They are cold and they don't care anymore. It's the blind leading the blind.”

“People are sick, but they don't have to stay sick. They are killing them, they are not helping them,” Sara reported her friend as saying.

Sara notes that her nurse friend “used the word murder—that coming from a nurse who went to New York City expecting to help.

“Patients are left to rot and die—her words,” Sara stated, quoting her nurse friend. “People are being murdered and no one cares.”

The use of ventilators on patients with COVID-19 pneumonia has been strongly challenged by medical staff. The Washington Post headlined an article on April 22 reporting that, “In New York’s largest hospital system, 88 percent of coronavirus patients on ventilators didn’t make it.”

A white emergency room doctor in Brooklyn, Dr. Cameron Kyle-Sidell, is also reported in the UK Daily Mail article to be protesting the uninformed use of ventilators by hospitals.

Dr. Kyle-Siddell told Medscape on April 6 that he stepped down from working in the intensive care unit at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn because he didn't want to follow the hospital's ventilator protocol.

“We are running the ventilators the wrong way,” the doctor said, calling for the protocols to be changed.

“COVID positive patients need oxygen, they do not need pressure. They will need ventilators, but they must be programmed differently.”

“It is highly likely that the high pressures we're using are damaging the lungs of the patients we are putting the breathing tubes in.

“I could not morally, in a patient-doctor relationship, continue the current protocols which, again, are the protocols of the top hospitals in the country,” Dr. Kyle-Sidell continued.

Dr. Kyle-Siddell also stated his position on a YouTube video posted in April.

On April 8, Republican Minnesota state senator Scott Jensen told Fox News' Laura Ingraham that Medicare pays hospitals three times as much if patients are placed on ventilators.

“How can anyone not believe that increasing the number of COVID-19 deaths may create an avenue for states to receive a larger portion of federal dollars,” Jensen later posted on his Facebook page, the Daily Mail article reported.

A USA Today article on April 24 fact checked Jensen’s claim of higher Medicare payments to hospitals for COVID-19 patients who are put on ventilators.

The paper stated that “PolitiFact reporter Tom Kertscher wrote, ‘The dollar amounts Jensen cited are roughly what we found in an analysis published April 7 by the Kaiser Family Foundation, a leading source of health information."

COVID-19 is the colonialvirus; the colonizer murders us every day!

Almost 16,000 people have died of the virus in New York City, where 193,000 cases have been reported as of this writing.

According to The New York Times on April 8, the coronavirus “is twice as deadly for black and Latino people than whites in N.Y.C.”

A New York Times article from May 18 reported that, “Neighborhoods with high concentrations of black and Latino people, as well as low-income residents, suffered the highest death rates, while some wealthier areas — primarily in Manhattan — saw almost no deaths, according to the new data, which was published by the New York City Health Department.”

The New York Times article pointed out that the residents in all but one of the zip codes in Manhattan that had very few if any deaths were nearly all white with up to six digit incomes.

The Times article quotes New York city councilwoman Inez Barron, whose Brooklyn district includes the zip code with the highest death rate in the city, as stating, “We may all be in the same storm, but we’re not all in the same boat.”

The Washington Post reported on May 6 that African people make up 60 percent of all COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. and that those deaths are located in 22 percent of the counties in the U.S. that have the highest concentration of African population.

There should be no doubt about what Chairman Omali Yeshitela and the African People's Socialist Party have said from the beginning, that COVID-19 is a colonial virus and the problem is not a medical problem, but a political problem!

Until African people, led by the African working class, have complete and total control over Our Africa, our lives, our resources, our economy, our bodies, our health and our political system and wipe parasitic capitalism off the map forever, the colonizers will continue to have the power of life and death over us.

Colonialism kills us every day—on the streets, in the prisons, in the schools, through starvation and in the colonial hospitals.

Through the African workers’ led organization of the African People’s Socialist Party and The People’s War Campaign, African people must organize to seize power in our own hands.

We have a strategy to liberate Our Africa and our African people wherever we have been forcibly dispersed throughout the world.

We have a strategy to get back our stolen resources and the value of our stolen labor in the form of reparations. Everything they have, they stole from us—including their ability to live a long and healthy life!

Point number one of the African People’s Socialist Party’s 14-Point Platform states loud and clear: “We want peace, dignity and the right to build a prosperous life through our own labor and in our own interests.”

Join the African Revolution! Political and economic power in the hands of the African working class! Join the African People’s Socialist Party.
