On yesterday, December 22, 2018, The Burning Spear newspaper celebrated 50 years of continuous revolutionary print with a dynamic interview between the founder and first Editor-In-Chief, Chairman Omali Yeshitela and its current Editor-In-Chief, Akilé Anai surrounding the history and significance of The Spear at Akwaaba Hall in St. Petersburg, FL!

The event started with an interview clip surrounding the history of The Spear with former Editor-In-Chief and current political editor, Omowale Kefing and current Managing Editor, Olofin Ikemba before going into a live Q&A session that ranged from the tedious challenges of building the foundation of the paper to its mission of contending with corporate, bourgeois media in the interests of the African poor and working class anywhere on the planet.

Viewing parties were held internationally to bring together supporters and subscribers of The Spear in Oakland and San Diego, CA, Huntsville, AL, St. Louis and Kansas City, MO, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, Boston, MA, Asheville, NC, Philadelphia, PA, and Orlando, FL!

Thanks to our supporters, we exceeded our $2,000 goal for the night with contributions from throughout the world, including two businesses in Atlanta, Aaron’s Automotive and Black Dot Bookstore and Cultural Center!

The Voice of the International African Revolution continues on!

Keep The Spear burning!

Long live The Burning Spear!
