Barack Obama, 8 years of white power in black face!

Oct 26, 2016
Aaron O'Neal, African People's Socialist Party

Barack Obama is an imperialist president who has sunk black people further into oppression. Here he does the work of white power as he refers to the Africans who fought back during the Baltimore rebellions as thugs.

Kwame Nkrumah was correct when he stated in his groundbreaking book of the same title, “Neo-Colonialism: The Last Stage of Imperialism.”

The crisis of imperialism deepened under the presidency of George W. Bush and made Barack Hussein Obama necessary.

As Chairman Omali Yeshitela quipped, “George Bush created more revolutionaries than Che Guevara.”

The myth of Obama being an extension of the Civil Rights Movement could not be further from reality.

While our struggle for black revolution in the 1960s was on the rise, the movement was crushed by counterinsurgency effectuated by the murders of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King and Fred Hampton, to name a few; the annihilation of the Black Panther Party; the introduction of a drug economy on our community, now left without any leadership; and the erosion of all democratic gains African people attained in that struggle.

Neocolonial forces led the black community overtime from Jesse Jackson––a vital player in corralling the victims of the counterinsurgency in the 1980s into the warm embrace of the Democratic Party, whose reverberating effects can be seen to this day–– and then ultimately to an African (anti-African) president void of any ties to the black community.

Obama vetted by imperialists

Barack Obama was a Harvard-educated lawyer and law professor who campaigned that he understood the plight of our people because he at one time was a “community organizer” in the South Side of Chicago.

Obama’s first foray into electoral politics was in 1996 when he was elected state senator of Illinois.

In 2000, he would later run for Congress against Bobby Rush, the one time Black Panther turned neocolonial stooge.

Obama was roundly defeated by incumbent Rush, but the sentiments of black community paralleled that of state senator Donne Trotter when he said Obama was seen as "the white man in blackface." The question is not whether he as an individual acts like a white man but what his class interests and his class aspiration are. That is why the Uhuru Movement understood that Obama is, “white power in black face!”

In April 2003, Illinois U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald announced his retirement. Obama, with the help of the Democratic machine, made a run for the seat.

But it was the 2004 Democratic National Convention where Obama auditioned for the bourgeois and made his masters proud.

He famously proclaimed, “There is not a black America and a white America...there's the United States of America.” Obama received a resounding applause and standing ovation from the Democratic National Convention.

This statement was a damning attempt to liquidate oppression of nations in this country but also to usher in what would soon be referred to as the “post-racial society.”

The Democratic National Convention all but secured his victory in the Illinois senate race where he won by a landslide.

At this point, as the only black senator, he was catapulted to national stardom. Despite the long list of Democratic candidates, Obama was vetted to run for the presidency.

Obama was perfect for imperialism as he looked like the oppressed nations that the U.S. was bombing and killing around the world and was exactly what imperialism would need to push its agenda forward under the guise of neocolonialism.

Obama assures white power he can do their bidding!

From the outset of launching his presidential campaign, Obama made it clear that he had no interest in making any stance for the black community.

In March 2008, while campaigning, Obama praised Ronald Reagan, who was viciously anti-African, saying, “He put us on a fundamentally different path because the country was ready for it. I think they felt like, you know, with all the excesses of the 60s and the 70s.”

The excesses of the 60s and 70s being the democratic revolutionary struggle that saw the emergence of black rights and ultimately the struggle for self-determination that was crushed.

During a Father’s Days speech in June 2008, Obama had the unmitigated gall to state that the problems facing our community are caused because, “too many fathers are M.I.A, too many fathers are AWOL, missing from too many lives and too many homes.”

Of course Obama failed to mention that Joe Biden wrote the omnibus crime bill during his [Biden’s] time in the Senate that fueled the mass incarceration of African people and that we make up nearly 50 percent of the prison population; he also leaves out the fact that his future secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, and her husband called these same black men “super predators that needed to be put to heel.”

Uhuru Movement asks, “What about the black community, Obama?”

In October 2010, Obama administration did not support a moratorium on housing foreclosure which resulted in the greatest loss of black wealth since we were kidnapped and brought to this country.

One does not have to look too far for the reasoning behind the lack of support. Penny Pritzker, was the early campaign advisor for Obama.

She is the billionaire heiress credited with creating the subprime mortgage loans that were used as a means to prey on oppressed communities -particularly africans - who could not get conventional loans.

These came to be known as the “ghetto loan” by some banksters and has been blamed as the reason for the economic collapse.

Once the flack came for her role in the subprime mortgage crisis, she was forced to step down as her advisor role only to be named secretary of commerce in 2013.

In August 2008, the Uhuru Movement was the only organization that confronted Obama and asked him a simple question, “What about the black community?” Obama then stammered and sputtered out lies that are now evident upon reflection of his eight years in office.

Obama administration did not help the African unemployment rate

In July 2008 debate, Obama proclaimed, "I have said in the past—and I'll repeat again—that the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed.”

Notwithstanding his faux concern for the quality of schools in the inner city, Obama installed his inexperienced and undereducated basketball buddy Arne Duncan as the education secretary.

Under Obama and his new education secretary, there has been a more than 60 percent increase in charter schools and nonprofit institutions funded by the public, including corporate foundations that have no accountability to the community.

States had to compete with each other for federal funding; however, the states that were open to charter schools, private schools and union busting were rewarded while others were not.

Also, while Obama is being applauded for the unemployment rate being below five percent, the rate percentage is still double for the African community; these stats do not even account for Africans who have been unemployed for more than three months.

He is also being touted for the number of jobs created but most are low-wage jobs.

Obama bails out parasitic capitalist banks

In September 2008, after George W. Bush was unable to get congress to pass the first bailout package, Obama was enlisted to help push the democrats to vote for the bailouts.

This laid the bases for the continual feeding wall street banks and corporations to a tune of 16 trillion dollars.

Obama has been praised as saving the country from an all-out depression by his bailout of the banks and corporations.

The Government Accountability Office issued an audit of the Federal Reserve’s emergency lending programs that revealed the Feds provided more than $16 trillion in secret loans to bail out American and foreign banks and businesses.

This is obviously trillions more than the 900 million allocated by the first bailout.

Affordable Care Act disadvantages African people

The Affordable Care Act enacted in March 2010, considered his landmark achievement, is indeed representative of his neocolonial spineless nature.

Although he advocated for single payer healthcare (in which government would fund health care costs) he “compromised” for ACA.

Under this program, the federal government forces everyone to pay for insurance under penalty of tax the ACA enacts health care exchanges for insurance companies to compete.

This was a windfall for the medical insurance industry. Although it is said that it has expanded Medicare and given millions of Americans health insurance, 22 states have opted out of Medicare and premiums for individuals and worker sponsored plans have increased.

Not only is Obama no friend of Africans but he is no friend to other oppressed communities as well. Named the “Deporter in Chief” by the National Council of La Raza, he has deported more than two million people––more than any other president in history.

He increased the ICE program by a reported 3,600 percent by the end of his first term in office.

Obama’s warmongering

Obama authorized 30,000 more troops to go to Afghanistan. In 2011, Obama formally ended the war in Iraq after the Iraqi puppet regime refused to grant immunity to U.S. soldiers for war crimes against the Iraqi people.

Although on paper the war was ended, there are reportedly more than 5,000 U.S. civilian contractors and 5,000 U.S. troops on the ground still.

In 2014, the Obama Administration orchestrated the coup in the Ukraine through NATO which helped fuel the current tensions with Russia.

The Arab Spring started in December 2010 by the rising resistance of Arab people to the puppet governments backed by imperialism.

Resistance started in Tunisia, Yemen and made its way to Egypt; thousands flooded the streets and called for the removal of the Egyptian president and U.S. puppet, Hosni Mubarak.

Obama, through Hillary Clinton, first tried to reinforce their commitment to the dictator, but it was evident people wouldn't leave the streets with Mubarak still in power. Consequently, it was agreed that the military would seize power and Mubarak would leave office.

Obama regime installs neocolonial puppets

The Obama administration also saw this as an opportunity to ride the incoherent wave to depose and install its own puppets.

Libya was the first; Hillary Clinton bragged about the lynching and sodomy of Gaddafi on October 20, 2011.

As a result, African immigrants were murdered by so-called Libyan rebels as over 30,000 US-NATO bombs were dropped on Libya. Libya now is home to several “governments” and is a ISIS stronghold.

Libya is not the only theatre of war Obama has had in Africa outside of the proxy wars that help syphon African resources in coffers of U.S. companies. In 2014 alone, Obama conducted 674 military operations in Africa.

They soon set their sights on Syria but underestimated the organization and loyalty of the Syrian government to its secular State against the rag tag bunch of Islamists, many of whom would be reborn as ISIS.

Obama creates “kill list” kills civilians

While Bush would kidnap prospective terrorist to secret prisons and torture them, Obama thought it more effective to just create a “kill list.”

Therefore, he would meet with his intelligence officials each Tuesday and choose a target to kill. His favorite weapon of choice has been drone strikes as Obama has authorized 506 strikes that have killed 3,040 “suspected terrorists” and 391 civilians.

Obama has given unequivocal and unprecedented support to the white-nationalist settler state of Israel.

He defended the 2014 siege on Gaza where more than 2,000 Palestinians were killed. The brutal State bombed civilian homes, hospitals and schools.

More recently, the Obama administration signed a 10-year military assistance deal, which is the single largest pledge of its kind in American history––worth an astounding $38 billions.

Obama calls righteous African protestors “thugs”

After outrage erupted in Baltimore over the murder of Freddie Gray at the hands of police, Obama referred to the protesting African youth as thugs; however, it has since been revealed in a Department of Justice report that the Baltimore police department has been targeting the African community and needs to be overhauled.

If the protestors are thugs for responding to police oppression, then what are the police?

After the rebellion raised by the heroic working class in Ferguson in August 2014, which is responsible for the current political awakening in the black community, Obama sent Eric Holder to help pacify the people.

Holder afterwards sent the FBI to Ferguson to “investigate” and ironically the only persons prosecuted from their “investigation” were members of the New Black Panther Party who were entrapped.

Obama administration blocks the release of prisoners

The Obama administration explained that the crack cocaine disparities was based on race and unconstitutional, even though the Fair Sentencing Act was obstructed by Obama.

The Obama administration actually argued that despite the unconstitutional cocaine laws, prisoners shouldn’t be released.

There are millions of Africans who are rotting in prison because of this anti-African law, and they will continue to languish in prison while Obama is lauded for releasing a few hundred individuals as applied to the hundreds of thousands that should be eligible for release.

Resurgence of the Black Liberation Struggle forces Obama to change his tune

The struggle has made Obama change his tune on the struggle of black people. While entering office, Obama said we are “90 percent of the way” to racial equality.

After the resistance in Ferguson, MO and Baltimore, MD and growing discontent that he did not adequately respond to police killing, Obama explained in a July 2015 interview with Marc Maron, “What is also true is that the legacy of slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination in almost every institution of our lives—you know, that casts a long shadow. And that's still part of our DNA that's passed on. We're not cured of it.”

That is definitely a retreat inspired by our own black struggle. What is also telling is that in spite of Obama, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, and the host of other neocolonial stooges, it has not and cannot stop the resistance that the black community has waged against the police murders.

Resistance to Obama presidency

Since the very beginning, the Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations, which the African People’s Socialist Party is a member organization of, has denounced the Obama presidency and his imperialists acts.

We were the first organization to protest the Obama presidency and denounce his wars.

At our conferences, we explained who Obama was and the real function of the electoral process.

Now we have a task that will change the trajectory of the struggle for black power.

We are calling on black people to join us for our two-day black people’s convention of resistance!

Come out on November 5th to help us give Barack Obama a proper send-off with a Rally and March to the White House to protest against the legacy of the Obama Administration's war against the black community and push forward our demands in our 19-Point Declaration.

On November 6, at Howard University’s Blackburn Center, we will have our Gala Celebration Convention on the National Black Agenda for Self-Determination to celebrate this historic achievement by the African community and to plan the implementation of these demands.
